薗田憲一とデキシー・キングス "デキシーランド・ビッグ・ヒッツ②" KENICHI SONODA & HIS DIXIE KINGS "DIXIELAND BIG HITS 2"

日本人によるディキシーランドジャズ。

ディキシーランドジャズを知らない人は、ディズニーランドで流れている

陽気な音楽をイメージをしてもらうのが一番わかりやすい。

薗田憲一なる人を調べてみると、１９６０年に薗田憲一とデキシー・キングスを結成し、

１９７７年にはジャズ発祥の地ニューオリンズにて長年の功績が認められ、

名誉市民となったそうな。

であるからして、彼は日本におけるディキシーランドジャズの重鎮ということである。

残念ながら２００６年に永眠。

興味深いのはディズニーランド開園と同時にディズニーランドで約６年

演奏していたということ。

現在のディズニーランドの陽気さの一部は、薗田さんが作り上げたのだ。

Dixie land jazz by a Japanese band.

If you are not familiar with Dixie Land Jazz, just imagine the cheerful music

streaming in Tokyo Disney Land.

That's dixie-jazz.

Mr. Sonoda formed his band, KENICHI SONODA & HIS DIXIE KINS back in 1960.

Surprisingly, he received an honorary citizenship from New Orleans in 1977 

for his achievement to spread dixie land jazz in Asia.

He is no doubt the most important dixie land jazz player in Japan.

It's really interesting that the fact he had played dixie land jazz for 6 years from the beginning of Tokyo Disney Land.

That cheerful atmosphere in TDK is partly or mostly from Mr.Sonoda's great effort.
