ポーグスの５作目。

プロデューサーはクラッシュのジョー・ストラマー。

今作を後に、ボーカルのShaneはバンドを追い出されてしまう。

まあアルコールとドラッグでまともにステージングできなくなれば

もっともかもしれない。

Shaneが抜けた後にジョーストラマーがサポートに入ったりもした。

１〜３曲目、１０曲目が好き。

このアルバムは意図的にかアジア、特にタイを意識している。

１０曲目のHouse of the godsはSingha Beerばっかり出てくる。

今度タイに行くことがあればこの曲を思い出すだろう。

改めて歌詞を読むと、Shaneは本当に天才だと思う。

あの風貌からは信じられないが。

世界観はチャールズ・ブコウスキ。

Pogues' 5th album.

The producer is Joe Strummer of The Clash.

The vocalist, Shane Macgowan left the band (or should I say the band kicked him off) after this album because of his unsatisfied staging from alcohol and drug use.

After Shane, Joe Strummer had a chance to support the band.

My favorites are track no.1,2,3, and 10.

Intensionally or not, you can see some influence from Asia in this album, especially Thailand.

Notably, track no.10, HOUSE OF THE GOD, has refrains of "Singha Beer."

I'll remember this song if I ever get a chance to visit Thailand next time.

I hadn't paid that much attention to Shane's lyrics, but I have to admit that

Shane is a genius.

From his out look, you'll never imagine he's such a gifted songwriter.

His words remind me of Charles Bukowski.
